Texas Star believes treating the sources of addiction,
rather than the symptoms, is the most effective method in obtaining
long-lasting sobriety. To do this, all aspects of addictive
behavior are evaluated, diagnosed and treated. Daily visits with a physician and
clinical staff ensure the treatment plan stays on course.
To effectively
treat addictive behavior, any existing psychiatric/emotional issues
(i.e. PTSD, bi-polar
disorder, depression, chronic pain, etc) must be addressed.
Texas Star
treats individuals seeking help for substance abuse, including
those with psychiatric / emotional issues.
According to a
report published by The
Journal of The American Medical Association, thirty-seven
percent of alcohol abusers and fifty-three percent of drug abusers
also have at least one serious mental illness. If these underlying
issues are not diagnosed and managed, they often resurface –
greatly increasing the odds of relapse.
Under the direct
supervision of renowned addictionologist and psychiatrist, Dr.
William “Bill” Loving, the on-site physicians and staff at Texas
Star Recovery provide a wealth of knowledge, experience and
expertise in addressing chemical dependency and other psychiatric
disorders which may comprise a dual-diagnosis.
A physician of internal medicine, a physician
specializing in chronic pain, twenty-four hour nursing and licensed
counselors complete the team dedicated to making the transition to
recovery as comfortable as possible.
Another unique
aspect of Texas Star Recovery is the ability to manage medical
complexities which may not be suitable for other treatment centers.
For example, physical rehabilitation is a treatment component
utilizing the hospital amenities provided by the program.
Maintaining a
small census of adults eighteen years-of –age and older, a higher
staff-to-patient ratio is created, ensuring each patient receives
the individual attention they need.
After-care/relapse prevention is another key feature at Texas Star
Recovery. Besides providing a thorough discharge plan, the clinical
staff provides follow-up care and weekly support meetings for all
alumni.
Located in
Austin, TX, Texas Star Recovery sits on Texas NeuroRehab Center’s
sixty-seven acre campus. Texas Star Recovery is a twenty-eight bed
program situated far enough from the main campus that it provides a
comfortable atmosphere while retaining access to medical
amenities.
